New Fayoum City is one of Egypt’s third-generation cities, established as part of the government’s plan to expand urban development and reduce pressure on older cities. The city was officially established in 2000, with a strategic location along the Cairo–Assiut Western Desert Road, about 15 km from Fayoum City and roughly 100 km south of Cairo.
